Challenge

Design a modular folding awning that is quick and easy to set up and can be combined with the other products from the Lewens range. This product must be operational in every situation and usage environment and withstand all weather conditions. It is Fabrique Invent’s task to make this system work technically and to match Lewens’ style in terms of design language.

Solution

This modular sun protection is constructed from aluminium extrusion profiles, allowing for any configuration within a maximum width and length of 6 by 5 metres. The wall cassette, guide profiles, gutter and legs are all factory-assembled components. This makes it easy for the installer in the field to click all the components together and attach the fabric to the trolleys.

Compared to other folding awnings on the market, the Positano has a canopy made of the same PVC as the screen. Other awnings, for example, have an aluminum covering. This fabric not only provides a more uniform appearance and blends better with the rest of the awning, but it also eliminates the need for excess aluminum. The quick installation by the dealer also gives the Positano an advantage over other folding awnings.

The biggest difference between a folding awning and a regular awning is that the Positano is completely waterproof. This system can also withstand much stronger winds.

Result

In the gastronomic sector, the Positano ensures more terrace hours, even when it rains or when it gets cold in the evening. If we look at private use, this awning creates a cozy atmosphere, the Positano offers comfort in the shade and reduces the use of air conditioning in the home because the facade also remains cool.
